Restore your Health, Vitality and Well Being
A new foot care system that helps us analyze your gait, foot movements and provide the most appropriate method to improve and support the way you walk. We use a computerized, gait and pressure analysis, which is a revolutionary diagnostic tool for assessing weight distribution along the bottom of your foot while you are walking. This Gait Scan system has electronic sensors capable of providing accurate patient assessment with is ability to scan your foot at 150 images per second, compared to the human eye that observes at a frequency of 7 images per second. These measurements provide us with a sophisticated explanation of foot mechanics and assists us with providing you with correct orthotic and shoe solutions. (After all, its not the shape of the foot that causes the problem, its how the foot functions while bearing the weight of your body.)
The health of your body rests on your feet. Therefore, lack of proper care, ill-fitting shoes and general foot neglect are responsible for the majority of foot problems. Your feet are the foundation of your body, so if the foot is not functioning correctly, ankles, knees, hips and lower back are not aligned correctly and problems can develop throughout the entire body.
When you are running, the pressure on your feet can amount to as much as three or four times your body weight. Even walking can produce more pressure on your feet than the sum of your body weight. In some cases, foot ailments can be an early signal of more serious medical problems like arthritis or diabetes.
Diabetic patients may require orthotics due to poor circulation throughout their body. They cannot feel foot pain or if the foot is not in the correct position when they walk. Orthotics reduce peak pressure areas by redistributing weight and taking pressure off points on the bottom of the foot where ulcers may form.
Arthritis is an inflammatory condition affecting joints and is usually accompanied by swelling, stiffness and pain. Orthotic therapy helps arthritic patients enjoy weight-bearing activities again, by cushioning foot deformities, increasing shock absorption and redistributing pressure from prominent lesions.
Women have four times as many foot problems as men because they have a long history of wearing high heels or tight ill-fitting shoes. The abnormal stress put onto the forefoot can result in bunions, calluses or corns, which is why as high as 80% of women suffer from some type of foot problem. It is a high price to pay for fashion over comfort. However, orthotic insoles will help reduce pain caused by these problems because high heels amplify pre-existing abnormities of the foot.
Orthotics are custom-made insoles worn in the shoe to support and gently reposition the heel, arch, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones of the feet to correct the way a person walks. Unlike shoe inserts bought over the counter, custom made orthotics are made specifically to fit the length, width and contours of the individualís foot with corrections to meet the personís unique needs. They're typically made with comfortable thermoplastic materials that are guaranteed to last for years and can be designed to fit in dress shoes, athletic shoes, boots, and skates to fit every lifestyle.
